Tobacco Control and Research Cell of Dhaka International University conduct a compliance survey on Implementation of Pictorial Warnings on all tobacco products. The team has developed a checklist on the basis of section 10 on Smoking and Tobacco Products Usages (Control) Act 2005 amended in 2013 and also developed software on the basis of the checklist for measuring the compliance of the implementation of section 10 of the law. The team collect data from 8 (eight) districts and sub-districts for measuring the compliance. The report shows that Pictorial Warnings has been increased chronologically (87% all category) but still some challenges for Smokeless Tobacco and Bidi (Only 3% pack compliance 100%)-. After monitoring the implementation, a press conference was organized on 28 September 2019 at Shaheed Dr. Shamsul Alam Khan (Milon) Hall, BMA Bhaban, Topkhana Road, Dhaka for disseminating the compliance monitoring outcomes. Dr. Habubllah Talukder Raskin, Associate Professor and Head of Department of Cancer Epidemiology, National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital, Mr. Helal Ahmed, Secretary General, Protasha, K.M Khalil Ullah, Project Director, NATAB were presented as special guests and Mr. Khairul Alam Seikh, Joint Secretary and Coordinator, National Tobacco Control Cell (NTCC), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was present as chief Guest. Mr. Kamal Uddin, Executive Director, NATAB was presided over the program. Md. Bazlur Rahman, Associate Professor & Project Manager, Tobacco Control Project, Tobacco Control and Research Cell (TCRC), Dhaka International University was moderate and Farhana Zaman Liza, Research Assistant & Project Officer was present the compliance monitoring report. Tobacco control activists, media people and more than 100 students from different departments were participated the program.
